Beginning with early three-year-olds, our program offers well-rounded rigorous education enhanced with international best practices and delivered in either French, Mandarin Chinese or Spanish. English instruction is added in Pre-K and is increased in elementary school to facilitate bi-literacy. A third language of choice, music, arts, science and physical education are included in the curriculum. Social science and computer science are added in the elementary school. Small class sizes allow more interaction with and attention from the teacher. Children graduate ISSA school biliterate and ready for middle school in any of the two acquired languages.
Ages 3-5
In a warm and nurturing environment, children begin to learn and socialize while acquiring their target language and developing necessary skills for a successful transition to a more structured full-day preschool program. They acquire an ability to work with others, follow directions, self-regulate, follow routines, and build self-help skills.
Language immersion
Ages 3-5
Children are immersed in their target language with ample opportunities to play, learn, and socialize. Through full immersion and a daily English class children are acquiring a target language and develop early literacy skills in both languages. Our expert native-language-speaking teachers provide resources and individual attention to each child to allow them to explore and grow into inquisitive young learners.
Our international curriculum, enhanced with global best practices and influenced by active learning pedagogies, covers Texas State standards, and exceeds them in language arts and mathematics.
Our preschool program is licensed by the State of Texas.
Language immersion
Ages 6-8
ISSA’s bilingual elementary program is aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and enhanced with global best practices from internationally recognized programs. Our curriculum and approach are founded on proven research and methodologies. We deliver our curriculum in the target language of either French, Chinese, or Spanish and English.
In each learning area of the early elementary curriculum, we foster inquiry-based learning that is engaging, challenging and relevant to the students. Students are encouraged to question the world around them and reflect on their learnings.
Third language of choice, arts, science, music, social studies and physical education are included in the curriculum.
Language immersion
Ages 9-10
In Upper Elementary, we continue to foster inquiry-based transdisciplinary learning. As students become more independent and sophisticated learners, they are trained to think for themselves, encouraged to solve problems and become involved in research and resources.
Computer science is added to the curriculum. Our teachers facilitate learning through collaborative projects among different language tracks.
By consolidating the fundamental knowledge and skills and increasing English instruction in the Elementary School, we allow an ideal transition to either an English-medium or a target language-medium Middle School.
Language immersion
Our weekly language immersion classes meet on Saturdays. Classes are available in French, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and Russian for children 3-10 years old.
Our week-long spring and summer language immersion camps are a fun opportunity for children ages 3-10 to begin learning French, Chinese, Spanish, or Russian. Camp is also a great way to maintain language skills during school breaks.
