Language Camps

Our week-long spring and summer language immersion camps are a fun opportunity for children ages 3-10 to begin learning a new language or keep their skills during school breaks. Campers participate in hands-on activities, such as arts and crafts, cooking, storytelling, and singing while acquiring a target language.

Camp hours

Sessions are available for full-day and half-day enrollment:

  • Full-day: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM 
  • Half-day: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. 

Extended care is available during 8-9 AM and 3-4 PM.

SUMMER 2024

French Camps

In this fun and welcoming art camp, our little artists will get messy and dirty, because it’s the best part of creating! Each child will be provided with the freedom and ideas to play, experiment, explore and create their own perfectly imperfect art.

Children will explore and engage in a variety of hands-on projects, including drawing, painting, sculpting and mixed media – all in a language immersion environment.

Get ready to move and play with our awesome bilingual soccer coach Raoul! The kids will learn basic ball techniques: dribbling, passing and shooting, as well as work on their team cooperation skills. Children and parents will also learn how to root for their favorite teams in French! 

(This is a half-day camp: 9 AM – 12 PM. Children may be enrolled in any other camp that week for the afternoon part of the day, if space is available. Please contact us, if you are interested in this option.)

Join us as we journey through Africa, paying special attention to Francophone countries. We will learn about many of the different French-speaking cultures in Africa. We will shop the souks of Morocco, dance to the music of Algeria and Senegal, see the gorillas of the Congo, try fufu from Cameroon and more.  

Try your hand at arts from across the Francophone world! Children in this art-focused camp will learn about a variety of art forms — all in a French immersion environment. They will become familiar with some of the most famous Francophone artists, paint Monet-inspired landscapes, make sculptures and even create their own art on textiles. 

On each day of our around the world camp children learn about a new continent, with a special emphasis on Francophone countries. Children learn geography and explore the world through activities, crafts, and games.

Celebrate France this coming Bastille Day (14 juillet) with our Vive la France camp. We will take a deep dive into French culture, history and geography through a variety of hands-on activities. Our budding Francophiles will make their own Monets, cook their own crêpes, and play la pétanque.

With expert guidance from our French speaking instructor, children explore the world of French food. They will make classic favorites such as crêpes, quiche, chocolate mousse… and learn French at the same time!

Get immersed in French with French STEAM! Children will expand their French skills through hands-on exploration of various STEAM activities. We will launch rockets, compete to build structures, try cool experiments and create art — all in the language immersion environment. 

 

Join in on the fun and excitement of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games! Will you win gold in soccer or maybe take home silver in track? At ISSA’s Olympic camp, you will compete in sports, learn new games, and cheer on your favorite teams all while immersed in the French language!

Chinese Camps

In this fun and welcoming art camp, our little artists will get messy and dirty, because it’s the best part of creating! Each child will be provided with the freedom and ideas to play, experiment, explore and create their own perfectly imperfect art.

Does your child love bubble tea, sushi, and fried rice or just want to try them for the first time? In Flavors of Asia, students learn about famous Asian foods and have the opportunity to make some favorites. We will learn about culture, try new food and practice using our chopsticks all in a Mandarin Chinese environment!

China is known for many important inventions, such as paper and rockets. Come learn about these and more in our Mandarin Chinese immersion camp. We will learn about the great Chinese inventions, try out our own experiments and explore new materials all in the language immersion environment.

On each day of our around the world camp children learn about a new continent, with a special emphasis on the Chinese diaspora. Children learn geography and explore the world through activities, crafts, and games.

Try your hand at arts from across Asia! Children in our arts of Asia will learn about a variety of art forms all in a Mandarin Chinese immersion environment. We will create our own ink paintings, make traditional masks and puppets and also learn about music and the performing arts.

Curious about calligraphy? Passionate about puppets? We will learn about Chinese civilization as we try to create traditional arts and crafts. Children will make a variety of projects to take home as we get creative in Chinese!

Get immersed in Mandarin Chinese with China STEAM! This class will introduce students to basic Mandarin through STEAM-based activities. Students will learn colors, numbers, animals and shapes while learning about rockets, tangrams, ancient pottery and more. While learning a new language, students will also learn about Chinese culture, practice their math skills and participate in hands-on activities.

Spanish Camps

Get ready to play and have fun while learning Spanish! We will learn about sports and games that are popular in Latin America and the Spanish-speaking world. We will also make some of our own games to take home at the end of the week.

There are thousand of pyramids around the world and they all hide their own secrets and mysteries. Children will explore the pyramids of Maya, Egypt, China… They will engage in hands-on activities to learn how the pyramids were built and mummies were made – all in a Spanish immesion environment.

On each day of our around the world camp children learn about a new continent, with a special emphasis on Spanish-speaking countries. Children learn geography and explore the world through activities, crafts, and games.

Learn Spanish while making a variety of dishes from the Spanish-speaking world! We will make
tortilla de patata, tostadas, buñuelos, paella, arepas and much more all in a Spanish immersion
environment.

Explore the continent of South America in our Spanish immersion camp! We will explore this diverse continent and learn about an incredible variety of places through our hands-on activities. Children will broaden their knowledge of the Spanish-speaking world all while having lots of fun!

Get immersed in Spanish with Spanish STEAM! Children will expand their Spanish skills through STEAM-based activities. Russian Camps

Guided by an expert teacher and artist herself, Sasha Nochovka, young artists will focus on learning basic drawing skills and watercolor techniques. They will draw and then paint familiar cartoon characters, dragons and animals — and practice their Russian language skills at the same time!
(Children must have at least an intermediate level of proficiency in the language.)
