This Summer, Learn a Language by living it.

French, Spanish, Mandarin and a Summer to Remember

Every week at ISSA Summer Language Camps, children in San Antonio explore one language through a themed, fully immersive experience. Families can choose between French, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish camps running from June through July.

Each camp runs entirely in one language, built around a hands-on theme that helps children learn naturally through games, cooking, art, science, movement and everyday interaction.

Cooking camps like Les Petits Chefs (French), Flavors of Asia (Mandarin), and ¡Vamos a Cocinar! (Spanish) Introduce children to language through easy-to-follow recipes, fun techniques, and the culture behind each dish.

Art camps like Les Petits Artistes, Arts of Asia, and ¡Pintar y Aprender! explore painting, sculpture, and creative traditions from across the Francophone, Asian, and Spanish-speaking worlds.

Geography camps like Around the World in Five Days take children to a new continent each day, with a special focus on the cultural regions tied to each language.

And for kids who love building and experimenting, the STEAM camp runs across all three language tracks, combining rockets, structures, and creative challenges with full language immersion.

Every instruction, every song, every moment of the day happens in that language. That is what immersion means at ISSA.

San Antonio’s Language Immersion Summer Camp for Kids Ages 3-5 and 6-12

ISSA summer camps are designed for children in preschool (3-5 years old) and in elementary grades (6-10 years old), with some camps, such as cooking camps, being suited for even middle school children (10+ years old).

No prior language experience is required. Children who have never heard a word of Mandarin are just as welcome as children who already speak Chinese at home. The activities are designed to meet kids where they are, making the language feel natural and accessible regardless of level.

Some families use the camps as a first introduction to a language. Others sign up to keep skills sharp over the summer or to complement what their child is already learning during the school year at ISSA. Either way, children leave with more than vocabulary; they leave with a real sense of another culture and what it feels like to live inside a different language, even for just a week.

Also, our camps are intentionally small. That is not a coincidence; it is part of what makes them work. Smaller groups mean children get more attention, more chances to participate, and more room to feel comfortable trying something unfamiliar. Many campers come back week after week, and a lot of friendships that start at camp continue well beyond the summer.

Half-day sessions run in the morning (9AM–12PM) and the afternoon (1PM–4PM), with full-day options and before-care available for families who need flexibility. Sibling discounts and ISSA student discounts apply.

A Summer Experience Unlike Any Other in San Antonio

3 languages. Dozens of themes. A summer that stays with them.  Whether your child spends one week or the whole summer at ISSA, they’ll leave with more than language skills; they’ll leave with experiences, friendships and a genuine connection to another culture.
